On Nov. 16, 2022, Waukesha County Judge Jennifer Dorow sentenced Brooks to six consecutive life sentences for the six people he killed when he drove his SUV into the parade. Brooks had pleaded not guilty and represented himself during the trial. At the time of the parade, Brooks was out on $1,000 cash bail related to charges filed earlier in November in Milwaukee County.Brooks was charged with punching and running over the mother of his child.The district attorney has said his low bail was a mistake.According to court documents, a jury trial for Brooks remains scheduled for Dec. 12 on charges related to that case.
