Past

Tashigi was born in East Blue. When she was a child, she started to like swords.

Loguetown Arc

During the Loguetown Arc, she saw Zoro when she went to pick up a sword from a sword shop. When she saw Zoro buying a cursed sword, she thought that he was an exceptional swordsman. Later on, when she got to know that Zoro was actually a pirate, she confronted him but he defeated her instantly. She then set out to sea with Smoker to chase after Zoro and the rest of the Straw Hats crew reached Alabasta.

Little Garden Arc

When Tashigi and Smoker were following the Straw Hats, they captured Mr. 11 and learned some information about Baroque Works.

Alabasta Arc

When Tashigi and Smoker reach Alabasta they go straight to Alubarna and that is when she saw Nico Robin aka Miss All Sunday taking King Cobra as a hostage. She fought against Nico Robin but she defeated Tashigi. She told Cobra that she would save him and stop the bomb. Tashigi helped the Straw Hats find the bomb and Pell picked it up and flew up so that it would not detonate in the city. Later on, Tashigi arrested a defeated Crocodile for his crimes. Tashigi told her subordinates to not arrest the Straw Hats as they were all unconscious and she rejoined Smoker and informed him of her failure to arrest them, Smoker told her not to cry and to get stronger. After the Alabasta Arc both Smoker and Tashigi were granted a promotion by the World Government, even though Smoker was against it.

Enies Lobby Arc

After the Enies Lobby Arc, Tashigi got to know what the Straw Hats had done in Enies Lobby. She tried to tell this to Smoker but she told it to the wrong Marine as she was not wearing her glasses. Smoker told Tashigi that as the Straw Hats were gaining fame, they should crush him in the New World.

Amazon Lily Arc

When Ace was going to be executed, Tashigi and Smoker were told to report to Marineford when they were called in as reinforcements.

Marineford Arc

Just a few hours before Ace was executed, Tashigi heard Sengoku’s speech about Ace’s past. She was shocked when Luffy arrived at Marineford and told this Smoker. When Luffy was going to the execution platform, Tashigi tried to stop him but Smoker got to him first. Later on, Tashigi and Smoker went back to the plaza. Tashigi then saw that a Marine needed help for his wounded ally only to be told to leave him and continue to fight. Tashigi thought to herself that even after the Marines completed their goal, they would not stop and after Shanks arrived, she stood down with the other Marines.

Fishman Island Arc

After Tashigi and Smoker were in charge of G-5, they were near the Red Line fighting pirate ships and Tashigi used her sword to redirect an incoming cannonball which blew up away from the ship. She then scolded her subordinates for disrespecting her just because she was a woman. Smoker told her to shut up and to stop interrupting his interrogation but then also scolded his subordinates for staring at her rather than taking the situation seriously.

Punk Hazard Arc

When Tashigi and Smoker got to know that the Straw Hats were going to Punk Hazard when they heard a distress call, they decided to follow them. When Tashigi tried to chase the Straw Hats, Law stood in their way and Tashigi was cut in half by Law. When she returned, she was shocked to see that Smoker was unconscious and lying on the ground with a hole in his chest. When he gained consciousness, Tashigi told him about the children dying out here. Law switched Tashigi and Smoker's bodies. Later on Tashigi battles Vergo and gets defeated by him; then Zoro steps in and defeats Vergo. She then was fighting against Monet and managed to defeat him with her final blow. After their bodies get switched back and Caesar is defeated, Tashigi asked Nami if she could take care of the Punk Hazard children. When they were leaving, Tashigi saw her subordinates telling bad things about pirates to the children for which she scolded them for their behavior.

Dressrosa Arc

After Doflamingo was defeated in Dressrosa, Tashigi and Smoker got to know about Luffy and Law’s doings and were happy that Ishho did not allow the incident of Alabasta to be covered up. Tashigi also told Punk Hazard that they would see Vegapunk in a few days.

Egghead Arc

During the Egghead Arc, Tashigi convinced the Punk Hazard kids to take another dose of their medicine which helped them shrink back to their normal size. Vice Admiral Doll told Tashigi that she needed to join the mission to rescue Koby from Blackbeard. Tashigi told Doll that she could not blame him because his friend’s safety was in danger and that Koby was a valued officer. Tashigi and SWORD joined Vice Admiral Garp to go to Hachinosu and rescue Koby.

Even though Tashigi is really good with swords, she tends to be clumsy sometimes, which annoys Smoker. She is really interested in katanas and can identify their names and origin on sight. She is very brave and can be reckless when she fights her enemies and will fight anyone who she thinks is an enemy despite their reputation. She can be very stubborn and does not like to be defeated if her enemy looks down upon her. She is really determined and she likes to protect things important to her. She is thought of as a ‘sore loser’.

Tashigi’s definition of ‘justice’ is different from that of the Marines and she does not hesitate to fight to defend it. Her goal is to remove all Meito from those who would use them for their own selfish reasons. Even though she hates pirates, she will abandon her pride and work with them if they are working for the greater good. Tashigi thinks that because she is a girl she is an inferior swordsman and as a swordswoman, she would die rather than be shamefully defeated. This does not stop her from working hard to achieve her dreams.

Tashigi has dark brown eyes and she has black hair at a length between her chin and shoulder. According to Zoro, she looks really similar to Kuina, his childhood friend. She wears rectangular glasses with red flames. She wore a short-sleeved shirt with a white-trimmed waist-length blue leather coat. She wears dark blue jeans, black shoes, white capris, and tan shoes before the time skip. After the time skip, her hair grew longer, and she pinned it up with a clip with her usual glasses. She wears a floral button-down shirt with blue capris, dark pink gloves and dark pink boots with a white trim. After she became a captain, she replaced her blue coat with a pink version of the standard Marines Officer’s coat.

Tashigi is very reserved about her body and can get shy and embarrassed about it. One of her prominent traits is that she is really absentminded and oblivious.

Tashigi is really agile and has great speed which she relies upon during battle. She aims to get stronger and after the time skip she has shown improvement in her strength and her speed and agility. She can even jump very tall heights. She has a high pain tolerance and can tolerate it when she gets a violent frostbite on her shoulder. She is also a very skilled Gentle Blade type swordswoman and could take down a lot of enemies at once.

Tashigi has a lot of knowledge about swords and she is seen carrying her sword on both her left and right side saying that she is comfortable using it with both her hands. Her personal katana is the Meito Shigure. After the time skip, her skills improved as she could hit the enemy precisely with her katana.

Rokushiki

Rokushiki is a special superhuman martial arts style that consists of six techniques that only a true master of Rokushiki can achieve. After the time skip, Tashigi used this technique to avoid the snowballs in her fight against Monet.

Haki

Tashigi is seen using two types of Haki:

Busoshoku Haki

Tashigi can use Busoshoku Haki, which she used to cut Monet.

Kenbunshoku Haki

Tashigi also possesses the ability to use Kenbunshoku Haki.

Smoker

Smoker is Tashigi's superior, and their relationship is purely business-related. She frequently receives criticism from Smoker for mistakes like mistaking a fellow Marine for Smoker when she wasn't wearing her glasses. Smoker himself declared that she was the embarrassment of the Marine HQ because of how much she forgets. Despite this, he still respects and believes in her judgment, he urges her to pursue her own sense of justice. Tashigi displays sincere admiration for her instructor by constantly apologizing to Smoker when she makes mistakes and by doing her best to follow through with his instructions.

Tashigi's new subordinates idolize and frequently make advances toward her. Even in the middle of combat, they find her distractingly attractive, and they frequently receive criticism for it. Although they call her "Captain-chan" and "Tashigi-chan" in an impolite way, her men are fiercely loyal and will risk their lives to protect her. She expresses genuine concern for them, even reminding Smoker that they have little choice but to work with criminals to save them from harm, despite the fact that she is undoubtedly bothered by their constant harassment. She protected them from the harsh reality that Vergo, the commanding officer they look up to, was actually a traitor, which shows that she values her soldiers.

Punk Hazard Children

After Caesar's defeat, Tashigi takes care of the kids, bringing them to Dr. Vegapunk for treatment and ensuring they take their medication to shrink them back to their natural size.

Roronoa Zoro

Tashigi seems to hate Roronoa Zoro because she thinks that he was using his swords for money-making purposes. She declared a duel with him after finding out his real identity and his new career as a pirate. She was defeated by Zoro, but she wouldn't surrender until he actually cut her. Tashigi believes that such a renowned sword shouldn't be in the hands of a criminal, therefore one of her objectives is to defeat Zoro in order to take his Wado Ichimonji; much later, she learned that Zoro was also using Shusui, which piqued her curiosity. She appeared to have a respectful knowledge of his tremendous strength after observing his enhanced abilities after two years.

Sanji

Despite the fact that Tashigi and Sanji are on opposing sides of the law, he fell in love with her the instant they met in Loguetown. He was over excited on their second encounter on Punk Hazard due to his nature. Sanji goes out of his way to save Tashigi when Vergo was about to kill her and does it without any hesitation. When Tashigi brought up the idea that they are supposed to be rivals, he ignored it.

Seven Warlords of the Sea

Tashigi saw the Seven Warlords of the Sea as allies. She was reminded by her boss Smoker that he doesn't trust the Seven Warlords of the Sea and thinks pirates are pirates. After this, Tashigi's opinion of The Seven Warlords of the Sea is that they are nothing more than pirates and should not be trusted.
